01 / Read the function of each connection
Read the function of each connection
P is the pressure-inlet connection and T is the return connection to the tank circuit. A and B identify the work ports associated with a spool. The numbered pair tells you which controlled function the ports belong to; it does not state the direction in which a connected machine will move.
The machine circuit and the selected spool arrangement determine the required connection and control behaviour. Use the physical port markings, approved circuit and configuration drawing together. A product photograph or simplified 3D view should not be used as the sole reference for hose connections.
02 / Separate spool count from port count
Separate spool count from port count
A three-spool Komtes valve has three numbered A/B work-port pairs. It also has the inlet and return connections shown on its drawing. Calling an assembly “three spools” therefore describes the number of controlled functions, not three total fluid ports.
When preparing an enquiry, specify the number of functions and the intended circuit rather than asking for a valve using an ambiguous total-port count. If the installation needs another connection or a carry-over arrangement, identify that requirement separately for confirmation with Komtes.
03 / Compare the published connection options
Compare the published connection options
The table shows the connection data for the three Komtes platforms. An “or” between sizes indicates options to confirm; it does not mean that different fittings are interchangeable on the same physical port. Check the actual assembly and its drawing before specifying the mating connection.
The KM50 four-spool drawing lists G 3/8–G 1/2 at T. The other six KM50 drawings list G 1/2. This configuration-specific difference is retained in the technical guide and must be confirmed when specifying the return connection for KM50-4.
04 / Confirm the complete fitting arrangement
Confirm the complete fitting arrangement
Komtes source drawings use G-thread designations. Confirm the selected thread, sealing arrangement and mating fitting against the physical valve and approved connection specification. A matching nominal size alone does not confirm the sealing interface or the suitability of a replacement fitting.
Thread sizes are also separate from hydraulic performance. They do not establish rated flow, pressure limits or permitted T-port back pressure. Provide the pump flow, required operating conditions and return-circuit details when the technical team confirms the valve configuration.
05 / Work from one identified configuration
Work from one identified configuration
For installation planning, identify the valve family and spool count and use the corresponding dimensional PDF. The product guides link all seven configurations for each family. Keep the selected drawing with the machine circuit so both documents refer to the same connection layout.
Where a port option, control code or circuit requirement is unclear, ask Komtes to confirm it before selecting fittings or finalising the installation. This guide explains the published labels; the selected assembly and agreed machine specification remain the references for the actual connection arrangement.
