01 / Start with the valve architecture
Start with the valve architecture
The construction describes how the valve assembly is arranged. It does not, by itself, specify the hydraulic circuit or operating limits. For the KM50 and KM80, a single monoblock housing carries the work-port pairs and spool bores. The KM110 documentation describes separate P inlet, intermediate work sections and T outlet elements.
The required number of controlled functions is a separate decision. One spool corresponds to one numbered A/B work-port pair. A three-spool assembly therefore provides three controlled functions; it does not mean that the assembly has only three hydraulic connections. Start with the machine’s function list before comparing a particular assembly.
02 / Compare the documented Komtes platforms
Compare the documented Komtes platforms
The table compares published dimensional and connection data. Width ranges cover the documented one-to-seven-spool assemblies. The three-spool width gives a like-for-like example at one selected function count. Select the actual spool count in the product guide before checking installation space.
Overall height includes the manual levers. A drawing’s dimensions are not an allowance for lever travel, hose bends, fittings or maintenance access. Check those clearances separately. The web 3D models illustrate the assembled exterior; use the dimensioned drawing for the selected configuration when laying out a machine.

03 / Treat connections and pitch as separate checks
Treat connections and pitch as separate checks
Spool or section pitch is the spacing between adjacent functions. KM80 and KM110 both use a 45 mm pitch, but this shared dimension does not establish that parts, sections or control components can be interchanged. The KM50 uses a different pitch. Compare the complete assembly and its connection layout.
Read the P pressure-inlet, T tank-return and A/B work-port callouts independently. Port sizes are connection options, not rated-flow statements. In particular, the KM50 four-spool drawing lists a T-port option that differs from the other KM50 drawings. Confirm that return connection when specifying KM50-4.
04 / Choose by the machine’s complete requirements
Choose by the machine’s complete requirements
Use construction, function count and envelope dimensions to form a shortlist. Then confirm pump flow, normal and peak pressure, return-line conditions, neutral behaviour, simultaneous functions, fluid compatibility and actuation with Komtes. A construction label cannot establish suitability for a particular machine.
The model names KM50, KM80 and KM110 identify platforms; they do not establish nominal flow values. Likewise, a matching port thread or envelope does not establish hydraulic compatibility. Send the selected drawing and machine circuit with the enquiry so the technical discussion refers to the same assembly.
